Journals available in Library Databases

What does an Embargo Mean?

An embargo means that the latest issues of a journal are not available. For example, if it was January and a journal has an embargo of 6 months, that would mean that articles from July - December of the previous year would not be available.

The information about the article will be available in the database but if the article is needed, including most times the abstract of the article. If you decide that you need the article before the embargo ends, you would need to order the item through Interlibrary Loan.

Attached is a PDF document that shows how to order an item through Interlibrary Loan.

If you need additional information, please contact a Research Librarian at or 301-687-4395.
