The Ort Library is pleased to be able to reinstate our physical course reserves service for the 2021-2022 academic year. If you are interested in placing physical materials on reserve for your courses, please review the information below before bringing or requesting any materials to the Main Desk.
All materials (regardless of format) may only be placed on reserve for one semester at a time in order to comply with U.S. copyright law and vendor licensing agreements. Items must be removed at the end of each term, even if you plan to use them again in future terms. Library staff will process removals at the end of each term and contact faculty members to arrange returns of any personal items.
We require a minimum of 48 hours (2 working days) to process reserves items. Reserve materials must be retrieved, cataloged, labeled, and processed into the Reserves module before being available for students to use. Thank you for understanding and planning accordingly.
Items will not be cleaned or quarantined after use. Students and faculty assume any risk associated with short term loans being shared between patrons.
We strongly encourage faculty to consider using electronic resources over print materials whenever possible.Electronic resources can be embedded directly in your Canvas course and are more accessible to students than physical items. We offer a number of tutorials on accessing e-books and journal articles online, as well as instructions for both linking to or embedding resources into your Canvas course. Librarians are happy to help with any part of this process and can be reached via email at LibRef@frostburg.edu for additional assistance or questions.
