Helpful resources

  • Differences Between, Changes Within: Guidelines on When to Create a New Record: Published by the Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS) in 2004 and revised in 2007,  this resource provides guidelines to determine if a resource is represented by an existing bibliographic record or if it a new work needing a new bibliographic record.  Originally written to support cataloging using AACR2, this resource may be useful when working with RDA.
  • Online Audiovisual Catalogers (OLAC): An organization of librarians concerned with cataloging all nonprint resources in digital and tangible formats, including sound recordings, graphic materials, maps and websites.
